Increasing Popularity of Luxury Vinyl Plank

Over recent years, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring has become one of the fastest growing products within the flooring industry. With an array of multiple styles and quality durability, LVP flooring can work in any home – and with any budget. So, what exactly is LVP and why has it become so popular? In this blog post, we will discuss just that!

For anyone that isn’t familiar with this product, LVP is created from compressed layers of vinyl and is intentionally designed to mimic the look of real hardwood flooring. Don’t let the word vinyl scare you, however! With the many advances in vinyl flooring manufacturing and technology, the vinyl plank flooring we know today is available in extremely realistic patterns and textures. LVP has quickly become the ideal choice for many flooring applications in both residential and commercial projects.

LVP was created with practicality and durability in mind. The high-performance wear layer allows LVP to be incredibly resistant to stains, scuffs, and scratches. This makes it very appealing to pet-loving homeowners! Also, since it is constructed with a waterproof composite core, LVP flooring won’t soak in any liquids or spills. This gives it the flexibility to install throughout the home including the kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms. LVP is also created with a topcoat that is UV resistant. Because of this, there’s no need to worry about any fading on the flooring that is in direct sunlight. LVP was created to last, which is why so many manufacturers have a limited lifetime warranty on the product.

The installation process is another appealing factor of LVP flooring. This product can be installed in one of two methods: glue-down or floating. Floating is often the easier method because there is no adhesive involved and causes little to no mess. In this method, floating vinyl planks are interlocked together, using a built-in tongue and groove system, and laid onto the subfloor. This method can also be used to install directly over an existing floor, making it perfect for a remodel or DIY project! This installation method is referred to as “floating” because the LVP flooring sits above the subfloor without any adhesive, allowing for natural expansion and contraction due to humidity or changes in temperature. Glue-down is another installation method for LVP flooring. Just as the name suggests, these vinyl planks are glued down directly to the subfloor. Regardless of what installation method is chosen, LVP flooring is a breeze to install for homeowners and contractors alike!

Between the many different designs, the durability, the overall ease of maintenance, and its low price point compared to actual hardwood, it’s very clear why the popularity of LVP flooring continues to rise. For any size project, whether it be new construction or a complete renovation, look no further than LVP for a flooring option that looks great without breaking the bank!
